An Overview of Features That You May Find In a Motor Home or RV

No matter where you live, there is a good chance that you have  recently driven past a motor home dealership and saw all of the motor homes and travel trailers that they had for sale.  Maybe you were reading the paper.  I bet you have seen a motor home advertised for sale in one of your local newspapers.  

If you have one of these experiences, did you stop and wonder what it would be like to own a motor home?  

If you have, you are definitely not alone.

USES OF MOTOR HOMES AND TRAVEL TRAILERS

One of the many reasons why motor homes other types of RV's come so highly rated and recommended is because of all the activities and situations that they can be used for.  Motor homes give you the freedom to basically do whatever you want to do, whenever you want to do it. For instance, if you were to buy a motor home, you could use your motor home to travel across the country, to go camping, or to live in permanently.  Many people in jobs which require being away from home for long stretches, often with frequent moves from place to place, such as construction or the entertainment industry. find that a travel trailer or other RV option gives them a home-away-from-home wherever they are.  Retirees find that owning a motor home or travel trailer gives them the freedom to enjoy their retirement in many different ways.

FEATURES OF MOTOR HOMES AND TRAVEL TRAILERS

In addition to the large number of uses, motor homes are also popular because many of their features. While it is important to remember that motor homes come in a number of different size, shapes, and styles, there are many common motor home features that can be found in a wide range of motor homes, both ones that are large and small in size. A few of the many features that you may find in some of the motor homes that you come across available for sale are outlined below.

THE BATHROOM

When traveling, one of the most sought after amenities has to be a clean, comfortable bathroom.  Most motor homes come equipped with bathrooms. These bathrooms are often fully functioning working bathrooms, with flush toilets of various types.  A large number of motor homes are also equipped with small shower stalls, while some even have small tubs. While showers are common in many medium to large sized motor homes, the smaller sized motor homes may not have shower stalls.  Having a bathroom on a motor home is important, especially if you are planning on traveling in your motor home or going camping.

For those whose RV does not include a shower, most good campgrounds, such as KOA, will have showers available.  Showers can also be found at most truck stops.

THE KITCHEN

Motor homes are also commonly equipped with with some sort of kitchen.  As with the bathrooms, the size of the kitchen in question will all depend on the motor home in which it is located.  Most motor homes will have at least a small oven, stove, microwave, cupboards, and a sink. The size of these kitchen items and appliances will all depend on the size of the motor home. For instance, even smaller sized motor homes may have small sized refrigerators, sinks, and so forth, while the larger models will, as expected, have larger appliances and more storage space.  Obviously, if you are looking for a lot of room in your motor home, you may want to think about purchasing a full sized motor home, which may have a full sized or at least a more spacious kitchen.

THE BEDROOM OR SLEEPING AREA

Some kind of sleeping area is also a common fixture in motor homes, campers, and travel trailers.  

Most motor homes will come equipped with at least two or three sleeping areas.  In all honesty, you will find that it will depend, once again, on the size of the motor home in question.  Many smaller sized motor homes may have areas that do double duty as couches and beds, or kitchen tables and beds.  In most full sized motor homes, you will probably find a small, but functional bedroom area.  Many larger sized motor homes have rooms that actually have doors on them! This is great if you are looking for privacy, and this feature is often possible to find in even some of the smaller models.

THE LAUNDRY

Once again, size is usually an issue, but even some mid-size RV's may have their own washer and dryer

TELEVISIONS AND COMPUTERS

Most camper manufacturers recognize the desire of the public for entertainment and information.  Most campers will be set up in one way or another for a television and/or entertainment devices.  Many have made allowance for the fact that most of us have computers, as well!  The provisions may range from the fact that space has been set aside for the TV or computer, or the camper may have been wired and provided with the necessary fittings for a satellite hookup.

The above mentioned features are just a few of the many that you may find in motor homes that are available for sale.  If you are looking for something in particular, such as that motor home that is equipped with an entertainment system or prewired for satellite, you will want to keep that in mind when you start your shopping and point out your needs to the prospective seller.
